This course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. This course is taught using the strong side hip holster or holster purse concealment positions. The hip holster must be of good quality with a trigger cover. It reviews safe firearm handling and mindset to properly present from concealment a firearm and incorporates a multitude of shooting positions. It teaches skills and techniques that are essential to effectively defend yourself from a life threatening situation.
Students are required to pass a written exam and practical exam at the end of the course.
Students need to provide:
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside The Home (identifies strong-side hip holster or purse use) certificate, and the NRA Advanced Personal Protection Outside The Home certificate
Cost of course is $200 per student.

Classes are conducted in a desert environment. Please bring hydration, sun screen, brimmed hat and sunglasses. Regardless of the time of year, be cognizant of the Southern Nevada dry climate and the temperature changes that occur during the year.
NO LIVE AMMUNITION IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM AT ANY TIME!!!!!

You must be 21 years of age or older!!!
The NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law and are of good repute and possess defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Certificate, or by passing the pre-course evaluation.
